Mitigation Projects

Carbon Sequestration
reNew has acquired an area in excess of 5000 hectares in a degraded forest reserve in the Ashanti Region in Ghana. The area will be reforested with a mixture of native, exotic tree, and threatened species to promote bio-diversity and soil regeneration. It is expected that the trees will 'soak' carbon dioxide through the process of photosynthesis which is vital for plant growth. The project is expected to generate approximately 300,000tC02e per year and 15 milliontC02e over renewable period of 50 years with a potential for perpetuity.

Energy Efficiency
reNew will replace 10 million energy inefficient lighting appliances in residential premises in Ghana with 10 million energy efficiency light bulbs. This project will run every seven years for a twenty-one year crediting period. The project is expected to generate 185,000tC02e per year and 4 milliontC02e over a 21 year crediting period.

Renewable Energy
reNew will produce bio-diesel for use in her project activities in an effort to avoid fossil fuel use and achieve 'carbon neutrality' in project activities.

reNew will also develop methane capture projects in waste-energy projects especially for rural communities.
